City trailed before the break at the Etihad Stadium, Marcus Rashford opening the scoring for United with a superb 25-yard strike. Haaland had a golden opportunity to equalize, having been served less than a meter from goal by a Phil Foden header, but his volley went over the bar in a stunning moment that left the crowd in awe in the silence.
