Real Madrid is going out of its way to organize a second Taylor Swift concert at the Bernabéu at the end of May. Casa Blanca had La Liga’s agreement to play its last league match a day earlier.
Owner of its recently renovated Santiago-Bernabéu stadium (81,000 seats), Real Madrid has the opportunity to organize giant concerts with the biggest stars on the planet outside of the football team’s matches. The red carpet will be rolled out for Taylor Swift. After receiving a total of 450,000 requests for the American singer’s concert scheduled for May 30, the Madrid club made a special request to La Liga.
Real thus obtained authorization from the Spanish league to play its last championship match against Real Betis on Saturday May 25 rather than Sunday 26. Like last year, the 10 matches of the 38th and final day of La Liga are supposed to be contested over two slots on a Sunday (6:30 p.m. and 9 p.m.), depending on the different issues still existing.
The entire last day rescheduled?
With this Real Madrid-Real Betis brought forward to Saturday, the Bernabéu teams and those of Taylor Swift will have time to reconfigure the enclosure in concert mode and create the installations specific to the 34-year-old superstar’s show. The Eras Tour will therefore offer another date in the Spanish capital, May 29. To the great delight of European Swifties, who will once again snap up tickets for this additional concert.
This little gift offered by La Liga to Real is not without consequences. The competitions commission is now considering rescheduling all matches on Saturday. The clubs’ agreement is necessary, even though they have already put tickets on sale for their last La Liga match. Real Madrid may already be champions, but Beticos, currently 6th in the standings, could well play for European qualification.
