At only 19 years old, Lamine Yamal measures how far he has come since his childhood in Rocafonda. In an interview with the podcast Resonance of Heartrelayed by Sportthe FC Barcelona striker spoke at length about his mother, Sheila Ebana, and the financial difficulties experienced by his family. Now able to shelter his loved ones, the Spanish international decided to offer him a house, leaving him entirely to choose the location. “ I bought my mother a house where she chose it. I asked her what area she wanted to live in and I told her: “wherever you want” “, he says, before remembering much more modest living conditions: “ I came from an apartment where the kitchen and bedroom were in the same place. »

A success which especially takes on its meaning for Yamal through the change in the lives of those close to him. “ I see my mother happy, I see that my brother can have the childhood I would have wanted to have and that’s what makes me the happiest », confides the Barcelonan. He also explains that he was able to offer more peace to his father and his grandmother, while reserving particularly strong words for the one who accompanied him throughout his childhood: “ My mother has everything she wants. For me, she’s my queen, that’s what I love the most. That’s all a child can ask for. » A mother who, despite her son’s precocious talent, had always insisted that he continue his studies, going so far as to threaten to deprive him of football if he did not work hard enough at school.
