Former AC Milan captain Massimo Ambrosini believes Mike Maignan will recover from his dip in form.
Ambrosini is convinced that Maignan remains the best goalkeeper in Serie A, even if the latter’s performances have not been at their best in recent matches.
The 2003 European champion said in an interview with DAZN : “For me, he remains the best goalkeeper in the championship, even if he has had some setbacks. Maybe what happened in Udine is still on his mind? People talk to me about it like a sensitive boy. Emotional management of certain situations could have been difficult.”
“Maignan still suffers from what happened in Udine”
Regarding the recent recovery of the Lombard team, Ambrosini indicated: “What explains why Milan have gotten back on track since December? The answer is in the numbers: in the last 5 matches, (Stefano) Pioli’s team has scored 14 goals. They did not achieve a defensive balance, but they increased the threat and the number of goals scored, which allowed them to stay in touch with both attackers. »
After 24 days of Serie A, Milan is 3rd in the Serie A standings. Giroud and others are nine points from the lead, occupied by the internal sworn enemy. The title is therefore still possible.
