Three and a half years after his departure from PSG for Borussia Dortmund, Thomas Meunier will leave the German club, heading to Turkey.

After having worn the colors of Royal Excelsior Virton (today in Belgian D2), FC Bruges, Paris Saint-Germain and Borussia Dortmund, Thomas Meunier is preparing to commit to the fifth club of his career. At the end of his contract with the BvB at the end of the current season, the Belgian international would have chosen to go to Turkey to sign up with Trabzonspor.

The news was announced on Tuesday by the well-informed Fabrizio Romano who indicated on his social networks that the agreement between the two parties was about to be signed. The journalist also specified that it is Dortmund who will continue to cover the defender’s salary until the end of the season. We now have to wait for the transfer to be made official, and the amount of the transaction.

Injured and little used in Dortmund

If Thomas Meunier chose to leave, it is mainly because he hardly played in Dortmund anymore. Hampered by a muscle injury, the former PSG player has only taken part in eight Bundesliga matches with his team since the start of the season.

Now aged thirty-two, Thomas Meunier will therefore offer himself one of his last challenges within a club which currently occupies fourth place in the Turkish Super Lig, but which also remains on a terrible run. four losses in a row with ten goals conceded in this sequence. The Belgian’s defensive experience is therefore eagerly awaited by the club’s supporters.
