It’s a big clean-up at AS Roma. Sixth in the Serie A standings, the Giallorosso club hit the headlines by announcing in quick succession the departures of José Mourinho and sporting director Tiago Pinto. The first was replaced by Louve club legend Daniele De Rossi. As for the position of sports director, the chair is still vacant. But not for much longer. In recent hours, several potential candidates have been cited by the Italian press.

Former Rossonero Frederic Massara is one of them, as is Florian Maurice, the head of the Stade Rennais transfer window. The latter was already announced for departure when Bruno Genesio left the red and black ship, before changing his mind. “I made the decision to continue at Stade Rennais. I have the feeling that my mission is not finished here. I announced it this morning to the players directly. I am convinced that this is the right choice for me.”he declared on November 23.

The verdict, in 2 weeks

We can confirm to you that Maurice is indeed one of the “finalist” profiles tracked by the Roman management. But he is not the only one. Christopher Vivell is also present. For this reminder, the 37-year-old German briefly served as technical director at Chelsea (December 2022-July 22, 2023). Finally, the Englishman Paul Mitchell completes the trio of finalists.

At 42, the latter is known in France since his move to AS Monaco between 2020 and 2023 (he has since been replaced by Thiago Scuro). A former member of the Red Bull galaxy, the Englishman has an extensive CV as a recruiter. Who will be the lucky one ? We can tell you that everyone has a meeting in two weeks with the Friedkin family (owner of Roma, editor’s note) to find out who will get the job.
