Alexandre Lacazette gave Olympique Lyonnais victory on Sunday against Marseille. This is not the first time this season – and the Rhone residents must hope that it is not the last – that the OL captain has pulled the chestnuts out of the fire for his training club. The series on which the former Arsenal player is launching is even particularly flamboyant and could well put Lyon on the rails of maintaining.
Lacazette has thus been decisive in his last 6 matches in official competition, which has not happened to him since his return between Rhone and Saône in 2022. Scorer against Nantes, Pontarlier, Le Havre, Rennes and therefore OM, 32-year-old striker also assisted against Bergerac in the Coupe de France. A few weeks earlier, he had also scored a hat-trick against Toulouse (3-0).
He is aiming for 20 goals
Alexandre Lacazette is at 10 goals in Ligue 1 and is one of the main reasons why OL are no longer in the red zone and have a solid chance of remaining in Ligue 1 after an apocalyptic start.
“I would like to reach 20 goals this season. I think it would help the club achieve the maintenance objective. It’s the first time I’ve won against OM since I came back, it was close to my heart”, explained Lacazette on Prime Video. OL supporters, in this period of major structural and squad changes, know they can count on their captain, which is a definite advantage.
