With Xavi leaving, Barça is looking to find a replacement for him as coach.
After the announcement of Xavi’s departure at the end of the season, FC Barcelona is now forced to find a successor. The Catalan club has a wide range of candidates, some of whom are already familiar to the general public.
Among the names mentioned are Thiago Motta (Bologna FC), Sergio Conceiçao (FC Porto), Jürgen Klopp (Liverpool FC), Hansi Flick, Imanol Alguacil (Real Sociedad) and Mikel Arteta (Arsenal), if we are to believe Mundo Deportivo.
According to the British tabloid Daily Star and the Spanish daily Sport, Arteta, linked to the Gunners until June 2025, would express the desire to leave the Premier League for a new challenge at the end of the season. However, this information has not yet been confirmed.
Tuchel, the unprecedented challenge
Another potential contender to succeed Xavi: Thomas Tuchel. The German coach, in difficulty with Bayern Munich, could be tempted by a new challenge in a championship he has never known. The former Paris Saint-Germain coach, however, has a contract running until June 2025 with the Rotten.
