Former French international Samir Nasri did not like Cristiano Ronaldo’s statements about Ligue 1.
Cristiano Ronaldo sparked controversy last week by indicating that the French championship is inferior to the Saudi one. Comments which were widely commented on and which also earned him numerous criticisms.
Nasri on Ronaldo: “He is bitter”
Kylian MbappĂ© took the liberty of taking kindly to his former idol, through a nice photo on social networks. But others were less conciliatory with the five-time Ballon d’Or for this gratuitous attack against the French championship.
Samir Nasri is one of those who was outraged by these statements. For him, CR7 doesn’t know what he’s talking about and he’s just doing this because he has trouble accepting that he no longer plays at the highest European level. “You have to play in Ligue 1 to know your level. The physical impact is not the same level as in Saudi Arabia. For me, it’s at the level of Ligue 2 in France. This is the Ligue 2 level in France. With these statements, he will above all come across as someone embittered,” he said during the Canal Football Club show on Canal+.
Ronaldo embittered? This is an opinion also shared by Laure Boulleau. Present on the same set, the former PSG player said “surprised by this outing”. “Why attack Ligue 1? And then I remembered that Messi played here. It’s not his level to say that. And it’s not the championship he knows best. I find it stupid. We look at the Saudi pro League and that’s not true. It’s a phrase of com’, of pride. I like him but I don’t like what he said at all.” she blurted.
