Liverpool took an important step towards the League Cup final by defeating Fulham (2-1).

Liverpool are on track to win a second League Cup in the space of three years. This Wednesday, Klopp’s men negotiated well the semi-final first leg of the competition against Fulham (2-1).

Winning coaching for Klopp

However, things started badly for the Merseysiders. While playing at home, they were surprised by a goal from Willian. The experienced Brazilian especially took advantage of an error from Virgil Van Dijk to open the scoring in favor of his team.

Without Mohamed Salah, who left for the CAN, Liverpool were in a tough situation in this match. And it was not until the second half and the incorporation of substitutes Darwin Nunez and Cody Gakpo that the situation changed. Between them, they completely changed the course of the match.

The Uruguayan international first served Curtis Jones for the equalizer (69e). The young Englishman found the net with a slightly deflected shot from outside the area. Just three minutes later, Liverpool were back in front. Nunez offered another assist. Gakpo exploited it with an uncontrolled rebound near the goal. Mission accomplished for the locals.

Liverpool – Boro in the final?

As a reminder, in the other semi-final of the competition, Middlesbrough created a surprise on Tuesday by getting the better of Chelsea (1-0). We could therefore well have an unprecedented final in this event.
