While waiting to unravel the Moscardo file (the Brazilian’s transfer depends on the next results of his medical examinations), Paris Saint-Germain is trying to recruit another midfielder this winter. The Englishman Kalvin Phillips (Manchester City) has been announced, but in recent days, it is the name of Bruno Guimarães (26 years old) which has made the red and blue supporters dream. Pillar of Newcastle, the Brazilian midfielder is Luis Enrique’s priority.
Yesterday, we gave you an update on this issue. Tracked by PSG for some time, but also by FC Barcelona, Guimarães is not blocked by the Magpies, but he remains a difficult element to dislodge. Under contract until 2028, the Auriverde international (18 caps, 1 goal) is a very expensive player (he has a release clause of around €115 million, editor’s note) and Newcastle is not particularly keen on the idea to see him leave in the middle of the season.
PSG slows down because of FPF
A trend which has been confirmed. Brazilian media TNT Sports indeed affirms that Paris will not recruit Bruno Guimarães this winter. Due to the very high cost of the operation, the capital club does not want to engage in such an operation right now, otherwise it would put itself in difficulty with financial fair play. Parisians obviously prefer to wait until next summer, especially if money is expected to come in.
After publicly announcing his attachment to the Magpies amid rumors of departure, Bruno Guimarães should therefore, barring a huge twist, calmly finish his third season with the Toons. Then, it will perhaps be very difficult for the English team to keep it, even if it is already guaranteed to hit the jackpot in the event of Carioca’s departure.
