The sanction fell for Cristiano Ronaldo. The Disciplinary Board of the Portuguese Football Federation has announced the opening of disciplinary proceedings against the five-time Ballon d’Or winner, guilty of having abandoned the national team’s training camp in Copenhagen, Denmark.
“The opening of disciplinary proceedings against Cristiano Ronaldo, by deliberation of the Non-Professional Section, on October 9, 2026, aims to investigate the disciplinary relevance of the facts that occurred on October 7,” explains the press release published this Saturday.
“Without prejudice to the automatic preventive suspension to which he was subject until the date of opening of the procedure, the non-automatic preventive suspension of the player was pronounced and the urgent nature of the procedure was retained”, is added.
Ronaldo will be judged
As a reminder, Cristiano Ronaldo left the gathering of the Portuguese selection, which was playing in the League of Nations. The top scorer in the history of the Portuguese selection did not appreciate that his coach, Jorge Jesus, made him warm up without bringing him into play, even though he had promised that he would play 30 minutes.
The file was transmitted, on October 10, 2026, to the Disciplinary Investigation Commission of the FPF (Portuguese Football Federation), with a publication ban until the end of the investigation.
