José Mourinho has football in his skin. A few years ago, after the end of his adventure at Manchester United, he admitted that he missed football terribly. Since then, the Portuguese has sat on the Tottenham bench before joining AS Roma in 2021. A club where the Special One also won the Europa Conference League in 2022. Happy in the Italian capital, the elderly technician 60-year-old has been approached by several teams in recent years. His name has been circulated at Paris Saint-Germain, Real Madrid and even Al-Hilal. But he stayed in Rome.

There, his future has been the subject of discussion in recent months since Mourinho will be at the end of his contract next June. In November, Sky Italia explained that a departure at the end of the season was in the pipeline and that the former Chelsea coach favored two destinations if the benches were to be freed, namely Paris and Madrid. However, this seems unlikely since Luis Enrique wants to work in the long term and Carlo Ancelotti has just extended his lease until 2026. But these two clubs would not be the priority of the main interested party, who recently spoke about his future.

Brazil really appreciates Mourinho

I haven’t talked to the owners about it yet, but when I see the fans who are there after this performance, I tell myself that it would be difficult for me to part with them. It would be difficult for me to part with them, if we part ways it won’t be my decision. If I leave at the end of the season, it will never be my decision. I want to continue here and I said it because sometimes it’s better to be clearexplained the Special One to the press. If I’m not the right person for them, I respect that. I have to decide about my life not in June, but before.”

But José Mourinho, who is still highly regarded in Saudi Arabia, has another option in hand. Indeed, Sport and several Brazilian media indicate that the CBF is seriously considering him to take control of the Seleção at the end of the season. After the failure of the Carlo Ancelotti case, Brazil wants to strike a big blow and is thinking of the Lusitano coach, who has the advantage of speaking the language. His experience at a very high level and his track record also speak for him. The CBF has therefore checked its name to take over from Fernando Diniz, who currently occupies the bench. Mourinho therefore already has a good way out available to him…
