Injured and absent for two months, Vinicius Junior is back on Wednesday with Real Madrid to face Mallorca (7:15 p.m., 19th day of La Liga). FIFA will compensate the Merengue club.
It was almost two months ago. While facing Colombia with the Brazilian selection on November 17, Vinicius Junior suffered a serious injury, suffering a torn biceps femoris with damage to the distal tendon of the left leg. Enough to keep him away from the field for very long weeks. His period of unavailability is coming to an end and the left winger will be present in the squad for this Wednesday’s meeting between Real Madrid and Mallorca (19th day of La Liga). At the same time, the Spanish club will recover a compensatory check.
As reported Mundo Deportivo, it is the International Football Federation (FIFA) which will put its hand in the portfolio, in accordance with its Club Protection Program. The Spanish media indicated that there would be no less than five zeros on the check that Real Madrid will cash, since the amount should be around 400,000 euros (410,960 exactly). This sum has in fact already been partly paid by FIFA since according to its regulations, the Program provides that compensation begins after twenty-eight consecutive days of absence. So it was last December 14th.
€7.5 million per player and per injury
As a reminder, if the world football body pays this sum to Real Madrid, it is indeed because Vinicius Junior was injured during an international match with his selection. As also recalled MDthe maximum amount of compensation in such a case is 7.5 million euros, per footballer and per injury.
