Premier League clubs seek damages from Manchester City

After the conviction of Manchester City for 114 of the 115 financial offenses with which it was accused, the noose is tightening for the Mancunian club. According to The Athleticseveral Premier League clubs are considering taking legal action against Cityzens to obtain damages. Several teams had mandated lawyers to study the possible compensation they could receive. Discussions which are now gaining momentum, because some clubs believe they may have suffered sporting and financial damage if Manchester City’s offenses caused them to lose Champions League qualification or sponsorship income.

A situation which could recall the Everton-Burnley affair. In June, an independent commission ordered the Toffees to pay 35.1 million pounds (40.8 million euros) to Burnley after finding that its violation of the rules of profitability and viability had given it a sporting advantage. However, possible action against Manchester City will have to wait until the end of the appeal process. Always according to The Athletica class action with several Premier League clubs is being studied.
