Olympique de Marseille have set the price for Portuguese international Vitinha in the event of his departure.
Last year, Olympique de Marseille spent 32 million euros to recruit Vitinha. But the former Braga player is far from having convinced the residents of the Vélodrome stadium. In 23 matches in all competitions, the striker has scored 4 goals and provided two assists. Insufficient statistics for a player whose status as the most expensive recruit in the club’s history augured great things.
However, Vitinha remains a talented player, as he has shown on a few occasions this season, notably in the victory against Olympique Lyonnais (3-0) in December. But the delicate financial situation of the Marseille club could well force the Ciel et Blanc to sell the 23-year-old center forward. According to La Provence, several foreign clubs have inquired about the player’s situation. Although no formal offer has yet been submitted to OM management, discussions are underway with the player’s clan.
The media underlines that the Marseille club nevertheless wishes to make a lucrative sale in the event of departure, having set the price of the player at more than 20 million euros. It is also important to note that the player himself, fully fulfilled in Marseille, does not really intend to leave La Canebière.
In a delicate financial context, in particular due to the constraints imposed by the DNCG (The National Directorate of Management Control) on the payroll, the resident of Ligue 1 does not rule out the possibility of a departure of the native of Cabeceiras from Basto.
