OM is currently exploring the possibility of signing an English striker during this transfer window.
Pablo Longoria’s OM considered two Algerians to strengthen their offensive sector, in this case Said Benrahma and Mohamed Amine Amoura. From now on, the Phocaeans have their sights set on an experienced English winger.
OM smells the right move
Faced with the poor performance of Ndiaye, Correa and Sarr and faced with the need to replace Amine Harit during the CAN period, Marseille would have turned to a “free agent” (free player). This is Jesse Lingard. The latter has in fact been without a club since he was released by Nottingham Forest during the previous transfer window.
Aged 31, Lingard has a profile that appeals to Pablo Longoria. The latter already tried to sign him last summer but without result. He restarted the track hoping to achieve his goals this time.
There is still an unknown factor regarding Lingard. Certainly, he is a former Manchester United player and has defended the colors of his country 32 times, but his state of form raises questions. Furthermore, his last goal in the Premier League dates back to the 2020/2021 financial year. Furthermore, since Chris Waddle, no British player has truly succeeded in Olympian colors (Barton, Fletcher, etc.)
Also note that Marseille is not the only French club to covet Lingard. Lille and Lyon are also interested in this winger free of any commitment.
