It’s sometimes difficult to quantify the value of Gianluigi Donnarumma’s current season with PSG. Very often criticized for his footing errors and damaging shifts in concentration, the Italian goalkeeper nonetheless remains imperious on his line and will have had several XXL encounters since the start of the season. One thing seems certain, however: despite the good performances of Arnau Tenas, who took advantage of Donnarumma’s suspension after his expulsion from Le Havre to highlight himself, the former AC Milan goalkeeper is the number 1 option of Luis Enrique to keep the Parisian goals this season.

A mutual trust which the 24-year-old goalkeeper appreciates so much he seems to appreciate the Spanish coach as he confided to the JDD microphone this Sunday: “The job of goalkeeper? It’s the most beautiful but it’s also the most difficult. As soon as the goalkeeper makes a mistake, it quickly becomes very complicated. Luis Enrique? He is a great coach, who makes his teams play well. He wants his players to dominate, to always play with the ball. He doesn’t put pressure on you. If you make a mistake, he will tell you that it’s normal, that you’re not a robot.” It remains to be seen whether the Squadra Azzurra goalkeeper will manage to overcome his small flaws in 2024.
