Two big names are not among the three nominees for the 2023 African Ballon d’Or title.

If the 2023 Ballon d’Or awarded to Lionel Messi will undoubtedly remain the leader in terms of debates provoked, the African Ballon d’Or should also get the various fans and observers talking. On December 11 in Marrakech the name of Sadio Mané’s successor will be revealed.

This Thursday, the African Football Confederation revealed the three finalists for this individual trophy. Major player in the Scudetto won by Naples, Victor Osimhen is logically among the nominees, Mohamed Salahwho had a good season with Liverpool despite an empty record in 2023, is also tipped to win, just like the Parisian Achraf Hakimi which completes this top 3.

There will therefore be two major absences, those of Riyad Mahrezwinner of the treble with Manchester City despite limited playing time, and Yassine Bounouwho was essential during Morocco’s journey to the World Cup semi-final as well as Sevilla FC’s Europa League victory.
