Criticized for celebrating his goal against Atlético Madrid, Joao Felix received support from Bertrand Latour, who slipped a tackle on Antoine Griezmann in passing.

Sunday evening, on the occasion of the 15th day of La Liga, FC Barcelona dominated Atlético Madrid (1-0), thanks to a goal from Joao Felix. Loaned this summer by the Colchoneros to the Catalan club, the Portuguese international did not fail to celebrate his goal against the team to which he still belongs. An attitude strongly criticized, particularly by some Madrilenians.

“Joao (Felix), don’t apologize for anything”

A celebration which, however, did not shock Bertrand Latour. “Is there something wrong with that?” (…) Joao (Felix), don’t apologize for anything. You’ve been mistreated by Atletico fans for years, probably because you weren’t good there. (…) These false modesty of players who we know full well that once gone, they have already forgotten who they played for, who pretend when there are cameras, not to celebrate the goals. When you’ve been at a club for ten years, (Steve) Mandanda doesn’t turn a blind eye if he wins at the Vélodrome, I hear it.”said the journalist on the L’Equipe channel.

“Celebrate the goals, take your bonuses and that’s it”

Bertrand Latour then recalled the memory of Antoine Griezmann, who did not celebrate his goal scored against Uruguay during the quarter-final of the 2018 World Cup. “We even came to the point, I tell Griezmann who I adore, of not celebrating goals against Uruguay because you have Uruguayan friends… This thing of not celebrating goals goes that far, continued Bertrand Latour. So at some point, stop, it’s your job, you can be at Atlético one day, at Barça the next day, at Madrid another day, so celebrate the goals, take your bonuses and that’s it. » The message got through.
