According to a new report, Manchester United are ready to sell Raphaël Varane in the January transfer window.
Varane has fallen far down Erik ten Hag’s hierarchy and has only played eight times in the Premier League. Since the start of October, Varane has played 18 minutes and was on the bench in the club’s last two matches against Everton and Newcastle. A report from Sports Zone now claims that United are ready to sell the France international in January.
Both Bayern Munich and Al-Ittihad are said to be interested in the defender when the transfer market opens. Interest from Al-Ittihad – Karim Benzema’s club – is said to be the most advanced, although Bayern have inquired about his availability. The French player could cost around 30 million euros.
Varane has a contract until 2025 and has played a total of 75 games for United since joining in 2021. However, it remains to be seen whether he will be ready to leave in the January window or whether he will decide to complete his contract.
It’s possible he wants to bide his time, as reports indicate Mancunian manager Erik Ten Hag is under a lot of pressure. The English team faces a tough series of matches: they face Chelsea on Wednesday, before playing Bayern and Liverpool before Christmas.
