Raphaël Varane’s future at Manchester United has been called into question, with the centre-back relegated to the bench by manager Erik ten Hag.

The France international has fallen down the pecking order at United, failing to start in each of the last five Premier League matches as Harry Maguire has regained Ten Hag’s confidence. His diminished status has led to reports that he could leave the club in the near future, with Bayern Munich interested.

Despite rumors about a possible transfer, The Athletic reports that Varane has not yet indicated he wants to leave Old Trafford. However, if his current situation continues, he could opt for a transfer away from the club.

Sources have thus reported a possible rift between Ten Hag and Varane, which would have led to the exclusion of the latter. However, Ten Hag claims he has no problem with the 30-year-old, saying: “ I don’t know what you’re talking about. These are just rumors, but there is internal competition. When you have to choose between two brilliant players – Varane and Harry Maguire – you have to make a choice.”
