Rothen lights Der Zakarian

The comments made by Michel Der Zakarian about Thierry Henry caused the former French international to react strongly.

Michel Der Zakarian did not have his tongue in his pocket when responding to the criticisms made by Thierry Henry against Ligue 1. “Where did he train? What did he do in Monaco? It was three months and it cleared. The guy works for the FFF and criticizes French football. This is bullshit! It’s easy to denigrate the championship when you are coach of the France Espoirs team. He won twice 4-0 but against whom? He didn’t beat anyone. Let him win 5-0 against Spain or Italy and I will say bravo”he notably launched in the columns of Midi-Libre.

But the attacks of the HĂ©rault technician were clearly not to the taste of JĂ©rĂ´me Rothen. “His words are shameful”he said at the microphone of RMC, adding: “It’s not just about Ligue 1 but also about Thierry Henry’s coaching career. We have the right to speak badly of him but when you are a colleague, you must have a minimum of respect for the person already. You attack him personally and his profession and I think it’s gratuitous to take his words out of context and say: ‘he speaks, he criticizes the L1 but he only stayed as coach in Monaco for three months.’ I don’t see the connection, it’s completely off topic.”

“The subject is elsewhere, we must not invent the remarks, he added. Either he is a liar because he is transforming Thierry Henry’s comments, or he did not listen to the comments reported to him by the journalist. If you want to talk about Didier Deschamps or Thierry Henry, go see what they said and then make up your own mind. When I hear Der Zakarian say that he (Henry) denigrates Ligue 1, if there is one who has put it forward since he was a consultant and then coach of the Espoirs, it is Thierry Henry . »
