This is the attraction of this gathering of the France team. At 17, Warren Zaire-Emery was called up by Didier Deschamps to participate in the matches counting for the Euro 2024 qualifiers against Gibraltar (November 18 at 8:45 p.m.) and Greece (November 21, 8:45 p.m.). He will most likely have his first selection(s), especially since the withdrawal of Eduardo Camavinga, replaced by Khéphren Thuram, opens up new opportunities. If he appears on the field, he would become the youngest player to play for the Blues since 1911!

“If I can beat this record, that’s good, but I’m at the coach’s disposal. He will make his choices. I’m ready”, tempers the new kid, who recounted his first steps in the French team during his first press conference. A necessary step and an exercise that can be tricky sometimes. Not for him, because Zaire-Emery has already seen others in his 46 professional matches. “I take this as an exercise for the baccalaureate.” Having become an indisputable starter at PSG since the start of the season and the taking over of Luis Enrique, the midfielder seems completely impervious to pressure.

“Mediatically, there are a bit many, but it’s flattering”

“It’s always a pleasure to be in the France A team. I am very proud and happy to represent my country. I will give everything for France. Medianly, there are a bit many, but it’s flattering. I am very happy. My family told me that people talked about me a lot. They themselves think it’s too much”he laughs at a press conference, simply happy to be there. “The staff and players welcomed me very well. It’s easier when there are some from the same club. I open up to them, I get to know them. Sometimes they come up to me at the table and talk to me. Everything is going well.”

Despite his young age and his inexperience at the high level, the young midfielder does not seem impressed by this new group he is joining. “They are very good people, they are always there for me. There are those from PSG, but the others also talk to me, give me advice, they all put me at ease, the staff, the players. I’m very happy that it’s happening like this.” In the coming days, he will have the opportunity to show what he is worth on the pitch and to take on this status a little more as a new rising star in French football, which is already well equipped in this area.
