A few weeks before the start of the Women’s World Cup, the broadcast problem is still present, in France as in Europe. M6 and France Télévisions are close to reaching an agreement with FIFA.
On July 20 and until August 20, the ninth edition of the Women’s World Cup, which will take place in Australia and New Zealand, will begin. As surprising as it may seem, France still does not have a broadcaster for this 2023 World Cup. The television channels cannot come to an agreement with the French Football Federation (FFF) and especially with FIFA for the amount of TV rights. The body that manages the competition would obviously be too greedy, a sum of 10 million euros being mentioned. Probably way too high. Nevertheless, according to information from the Team, M6 and France Télévisions could make an association in order to broadcast the matches of the Women’s Football World Cup and especially those of the France team.

The sports daily also specifies that M6 and France Télévisions will have the right to broadcast Les Bleues matches outside this World Cup. France, positioned in group F, will face Jamaica on July 23 before facing Brazil, who beat Les Bleues in the quarter-finals of the 2019 edition, then Panama. The French team, which will be cut off from its attackers Marie-Antoinette Katoto and Delphine Cascarino, hopes to reach the semi-finals of the competition. Hervé Renard aims to give Les Bleues a second wind after the tensions of the mandate under Corinne Deacon. The problem of broadcasting this World Cup finally seems to be settled after a (very) long period of negotiation to acquire these TV rights, which are as precious as they are expensive.
