Swedish superstar Zlatan Ibrahimovic could return to AC Milan in a new role after hanging up his boots.
It was in tears that Ibrahimovic announced his retirement in June, at the age of 41, in front of AC Milan supporters at San Siro. The Swede could now return to the Rossoneri and take up a new role, with Milan manager Giorgio Furlani confirming discussions have taken place with the former striker.
“ Zlatan is a champion dear to all Milanese. We have been talking with him for many months and we will see what happens”Giorgio Furlani told Sky Sport Italia. “I don’t want to talk about roles right now, but he’s a great champion, a great person, he really cares about Milan and we’ll see what happens.
Ibrahimovic is an inspirational figure who would be warmly welcomed by fans who have seen him win two Serie A titles during his two spells at the club. Ibrahimovic has already hinted at a return. He posted a photo of himself on X with the caption “tic tac tic tac”.
Discussions between Milan and Ibrahimovic appear to be continuing. The former striker is expected to take on an ambassadorial role which would also allow him to be part of Stefano Pioli’s management team.
