The Marseille coach complimented his team for the match they provided against Lille.
OM went another match without a win in Ligue 1. At home, they had to share the honors with Lille this Saturday. And the accounting operation could have been even worse if Lille had materialized its control.
Gattuso judges his OM to be making progress
It was therefore not a great Marseille. However, at the end of the game, Gennaro Gattuso, his coach, said he was happy. “We wanted to win, it was obvious, he began by telling Canal+ Foot. I can understand the public’s disappointment. But from a tactical point of view, the match was good. Lille is one of the strongest teams. I’m glad we didn’t concede a goal.”
The Italian coach admitted that offensively his team is floundering: “Yes, if you look at the last 30 meters, we are not playing vertically enough. We could have played better when we had the ball. But I’m quite satisfied. Should we score goals? Yes, but the problem is the others.”
From a general point of view, Gattuso judges his team to have made progress since his arrival at the club: “From a state of mind point of view, we are good. You have to accept the whistles. There is disappointment, but you have to analyze it carefully and recognize that the opponent was of quality. The team is progressing and we must continue this progress. We have the foundations to do better and the team shows it.”
