Already a Ballon d’Or record holder, Lionel Messi obtained his eighth crown on Monday evening in Paris. Kylian Mbappé was beaten by Erling Haaland on the podium.

Big favorite for the 2023 Ballon d’Or, after winning the World Cup with Argentina on December 18 in Qatar, at the expense of the France team, Lionel Messi received his eighth Ballon d’Or on Monday, during a ceremony organized at the Théâtre du Châtelet, in Paris. “La Pulga”, record holder for the individual distinction created by France Footballnow has three more titles than Cristiano Ronaldo.

At 36, Messi, who flew to MLS to play for Inter Miami (after two disappointing seasons at PSG), should no longer experience the honors of the Ballon d’Or. For his sixth nomination for the Ballon d’Or (7th, 4th, 6th, 9th and 6th), Kylian Mbappé, at 24, finally appears on the podium for a Ballon d’Or, after having notably finished top scorer in the League 1 and above all top scorer at the World Cup in Qatar with the Blues. Kevin De Bruyne and Rodri, winners of the LDC with the Cityzens, complete the top 5, just ahead of Vinicius.
