Joseph Oughourlian, owner of RC Lens, announced this Monday that he had reached an agreement with the city to buy the Bollaert-Delelis stadium.

Having moved from Ligue 2 to the Champions League in just three years, RC Lens will take another important step in its quest for development. Speaking on the airwaves of France Bleu Nord this Monday, Joseph Oughourlian, owner of the northern club, announced that a common agreement had been reached with the city of Lens concerning the purchase of the Bollaert-Delelis stadium.

” It going. We reached an agreement with the town hall of Lens. We now need approval from the Ministry of Finance. We had very long and very fruitful discussions with the town hall. We understand each other well with the mayor, Sylvain Robert”confided Joseph Oughourlian

The mayor tempers

For his part, the mayor of Lens, Sylvain Robert, was more cautious, confirming that the negotiations “are at the end of their journey”, but also specifying that nothing has yet been signed. “There is no formalization of an agreement or an actual sale,” he recalled. Indeed, once the agreement on the amount of the sale has been signed by both parties, it will be up to the Lens municipal council to ratify the purchase.

Currently, RC Lens manages its stadium under a 50-year long lease. The latter is valid until 2052 and costs around 450,000 euros per year for Sang et Or.
