The soap opera surrounding the sale of Olympique de Marseille is no longer one twist away. Nor to an improbable rumor. For ten days, the operation seemed to be on the verge of being (finally) finalized. Thibaud Vérizian, who has been saying for two years that the sale is imminent, was no longer the only one to be convinced that the file was reaching its goal. Some in Saudi Arabia were on the same line and France Bleu Provence did not hesitate to announce that Zinedine Zidane had given his agreement to the Saudis to become the new strong man of OM in the event of the club’s sale.

On Sunday, i24News journalist Bastien Borie nevertheless cooled the ardor of Marseille supporters by affirming that the reports that had reached him from Saudi Arabia were completely different: the sale of Ciel et Blanc was still far from being recorded and there had been no discussion with Zinedine Zidane. Discussions between the two parties would still stumble over the sum claimed by Frank McCourt, who does not intend to sell OM for less than 600 million euros, and the share of the club that the American businessman would like to keep.

And according to insider Yacine Ferguson, Frank McCourt’s intransigence is on the verge of tiring his interlocutors. So much so that Saudi Arabia would be ready to change its tune and set its sights on Olympique Lyonnais. Despite the crisis experienced by Les Gones, the Rhone club would not lack assets.
