Olympique Lyonnais are at the bottom of the abyss and occupy last place in the Ligue 1 standings after seven days. The main culprit may not be who we think.
The alarm signal is being sounded by Olympique Lyonnais. Authors of a catastrophic start to the season, Alexandre Lacazette’s partners are, for the moment, completely off the mark. And the consequence is such that the Gones occupy the eighteenth and last place in the ranking, after seven days of the championship. Not the slightest success for a team which has already changed coach and whose reaction is still awaited. Regularly implicated, the owner John Textor is accused of all the wrongs. But some point to another person responsible.
Without exonerating the American businessman from his responsibilities, observers believe that the former boss of the club, Jean-Michel Aulas, has nothing to do with the crisis situation that OL is currently experiencing. On RMCDaniel Riolo went there frankly: “ When I said that Aulas had become a problem for years. (…) The only current manager of the club is Aulas. He built and destroyed this club. » A clear opinion, taken up in part by journalist Sébastien Tarrago on the channel The Team. “ For several years, things had been going badly and the club was, in my eyes, in danger. There were certain dissensions, certain leaders who were not at the level. So it’s a slow descent that doesn’t date from John Textor.“
A nice winter transfer window?
It now remains to be seen how Olympique Lyonnais will manage to get out of the rut in which it currently finds itself stuck. John Textor assured this weekend that the winter transfer window would allow him to spend happily to recruit and strengthen the team, but the DNCG could well put a few spokes in his wheels. For his part, Jean-Michel Aulas observes and sometimes comments on the situation. The one who made OL grow today sees his work in danger. Perhaps he has his share of responsibility.
