A few days before the match against Newcastle, on the 2nd day of the Champions League, Paris Saint-Germain, crowned with a big victory against OM at the Parc des Princes last weekend, traveled this Saturday afternoon to Puy-de-Dôme to face Clermont Foot on the Gabriel-Montpied pitch. Spanish coach Luis Enrique reinstalled the same victorious 4-2-4 against Marseille with a few changes. The Parisian coach decided to give Lucas Hernandez, Warren Zaire Emery and Manuel Ugarte a break.
During the first period, the Parisians, although dominant, were unable to find the net. The fault lies with a huge Mory Diaw in the Clermont cages with a total of six saves at the break. The former goalkeeper trained at PSG first disgusted Ousmane Dembélé (20th, 41st), Kylian Mbappé (33rd) as well as Randal Kolo Muani (34th) but also Vitinha (42nd). Despite the domination of Luis Enrique’s players, Pascal Gastien’s troops were able to hold the lead in defense with some offensive opportunities, like this header from Nicholson (32nd) or this decisive return from Barcola in front of Konaté (10th) .

A duel of goalkeepers!
In the second act, the scenario remained almost similar to the beginning. Mory Diaw continued his show with several new decisive saves, first on Dembélé after his shot was deflected by Johan Gastien (49th). But the biggest save was on Gonçalo Ramos’ dive at the end of the match (82nd) which completely saved his team but also on Danilo’s header (90th+1) and Mbappé’s shot (90th+3). A reflex stop which woke up the spans of Gabriel-Montpied. But on the other side, the Italian and Parisian goalkeeper, Gianluigi Donnarumma was also able to respond, like this impressive double save (46th) or this new rescue against Konaté (54th). Note that Kylian Mbappé found Diaw’s amount on a strike from the penalty point (55th). In total, the Clermont goalkeeper made ten saves.
In the standings, PSG remains in 3rd position in the championship, while Clermont takes a precious point – its first of the season but still stagnates in 18th and last place in Ligue 1. Next weekend, during the 8th day of the French championship, Paris will travel to Brittany for a shock match against Stade Rennais. Gastien’s players will play against Montpellier at La Mosson.
