Jacques Abardonado’s interim on the OM bench may not last beyond the Classic against PSG…

For his debut on the OM bench, Jacques Abardonado only has shocks to prepare. After Ajax in the Europa League (3-3), it’s time for the Classic against PSG, Sunday evening at the Parc des Princes. Will this crucial meeting be the last for the man who had to replace Marcelino at short notice, following the departure of the Spanish technician at the start of the week? “The duration of my temporary work? I have no information, I am at the disposal of the club as I said,” he simply replied at a press conference.

Behind the scenes, the management of Olympique de Marseille is said to be working to find a new coach. After withdrawing from his duties for a few days, due to threats made by certain Marseille supporters, Pablo Longoria returned to work and has already identified a candidate to take over the team. According to the Portuguese media O Jogothe president of Ciel et Blanc would target Jaime Pacheco, currently stationed at Pyramids FC, in the Egyptian championship.

Pacheco announces himself to OM!

Aged 65, the Portuguese coached numerous clubs in his native country, notably Boavista where he won the league title in 2001, before going into exile in Saudi Arabia, China and Egypt. His arrival in the Vieux Port could materialize quite quickly because the former international midfielder (25 caps), described as “volcanic” by journalist Nicolas Vilas, has already informed its leaders of its intention to join the current fourth in Ligue 1.

“I informed my president of my wish to leave after the next match (Monday), to coach Marseille”, he told the media Kora Plus. A version denied by Javier Ribalta, the football director of OM, who confided in the Egyptian press that he had not sent any offer to Jaime Pacheco. “We are not interested in him”, he said. A way to put out the fire to preserve the Olympian group before facing Paris Saint-Germain? Answer next week…
