Facing Borussia Dortmund this Tuesday for their first Champions League match this season, PSG can fear the worst…

Failing to shine once winter comes, PSG has got into the good habit of systematically responding during the group stage of the Champions League. Since 2012, the capital club has each time made its ticket to the round of 16, without always holding its place as was the case last season when Christophe Galtier’s men let slip first place in the group in favor of of Benfica.

But this time, PSG can tremble. While it is in full reconstruction, consequence of the change of coach and the twelve arrivals which agitated its transfer window, the club of the capital has in fact inherited the group of death. Yet placed in hat 1 thanks to their title of champion of France, the Rouge et Bleu have in fact inherited Borussia Dortmund, AC Milan and Newcastle. Parisians could hardly imagine worse.

Concern is in order

And while Luis Enrique’s troops begin their European campaign this Tuesday against Borussia Dortmund, the statistics do not speak in favor of PSG. At least those of Opta. According to the data specialist, the Parisian club is in fact the least well placed to exit group F. While Newcastle dominates the debates with a 57.1% chance of qualifying, ahead of Borussia Dortmund (4ç.8%) and AC Milan (47.0%), the French champions come in fourth position with a 46.1% chance.

PSG can console themselves by noting that they have reduced the gap with their rivals since the draw since the capital club had to be satisfied with a 43.9% chance of qualifying against 58.5% for Newcastle, 51 .4% for Borussia Dortmund and 46.2% for AC Milan.
