The latest transfers made by PSG will be scrutinized by UEFA, which could very well take action within a few weeks.
Marco Verratti, Julian Draxler, Abdou Diallo, here are three players who became unwanted in Paris and found buyers in Qatar, at relatively high prices. For these three elements shunned by the European market, PSG collected a total of around 80 million euros. An unexpected nest egg that jumps to the other side of the Pyrenees where we do not fail to remember that the capital club sails precisely under the Qatari flag.
“ They take us for idiotsLa Liga boss Javier Tebas recently railed. We can also do like France, which does not control PSG while they sell Marco Verratti to Qatar for more than 40 million euros, or I don’t know how much. We can do that too, find a satellite country that buys players from us to make big profits and then buy all the players we want. Is this the system we want? I do not believe… »
PSG already on borrowed time
Overvaluation or not? It is up to UEFA to decide. L’Equipe revealing this Monday that the club financial control body (ICFC) is preparing to take up the matter to judge whether Verratti, Draxler and Diallo are indeed worth 45, 20 and 15 million euros on the market in view of their profile and their recent service records. Otherwise, UEFA could freeze these amounts and thus ignore them in PSG’s future balance sheet. Which would place the club in an unfortunate position regarding financial fair play.
For the past year, Paris has been under a settlement agreement with UEFA for an unauthorized deficit – with a fine of 55 million euros hanging over their heads. In the past, the continental body has already singled out PSG for an alleged premium on its sponsorship contracts. Deals with Qatar National Bank, Ooredoo, beIN Sports, Aspetar and the Qatar Tourism Authority were thus devalued.
