This Friday at a press conference, Marcelino spoke about the match against Toulouse on Sunday and the changes to come at OM.
Third in Ligue 1,Olympic Marseille has had a mixed start to the season so far. In terms of accounting, the Olympians have not lost in Ligue 1 and are tied with Paris and two points behind leader Monaco. But Marcelino’s men still show little certainty in the game and let points slip away while they played in numerical superiority against Metz and Nantes.
The group almost complete
On Sunday, Toulouse will stand in the way of the Phocaeans before the schedule gets tougher with the start of the Europa League and clashes against Paris, Monaco, Nice and even Lyon in the weeks to come. This Friday at a press conference, Marcelino first gave a medical assessment after the international break. “All the players are doing well, except Sarr who is injured. All players have trained except Lodi who should train tomorrow. I am proud of the work accomplished during the truce. We have taken several steps forward”indicated the Spanish technician.
And despite the tough opponents awaiting his players, the Marseille coach wants to focus on the match against Toulouse at the Stade Vélodrome, where OM have always won this season. “As you said, the most important match against Toulouse. It’s always great for a club to compete in a European competition. We take the matches one after the other. We want to win on Sunday against Toulouse and achieve a third consecutive success at home”he continued.
No tactical change against Toulouse
The former Bilbao coach then spoke about a potential change of system and a move to 4-3-3, which was mentioned by RMC Sport during the day. “Change of system is possible in the future but not against Toulouse. If we start mixing systems, it could be harmful for players. We have sometimes been irregular, we need to show more continuity. We will little by little be more regular and forget the principles of last year”.
