Among the players who left their mark on Real Madrid, Raul was tipped to coach Villarreal. This will not be the case.

Fifteenth in the Spanish Championship, Villarreal is banking on José Rojo “Pacheta” to turn things around. The La Liga club formalized on Saturday the arrival of the 55-year-old technician who succeeds Quique Setien, dismissed on Tuesday.

Pacheta has been free since last April and the end of his experience in Valladolid. The Yellow Submarine bench will be the 10th club coached in the Spaniard’s career.

A missed opportunity for Raul, 46, expected to get the job, indicated Mundo Deportivo this weekend.

One of the legends of Real Madrid (323 goals in 741 matches played) has coached Castilla (reserve team) since 2019.
