Manchester United has been up for sale for 10 months and the Daily Mail reported on Wednesday that billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Qatar will soon make an offer approaching the £7 billion demanded by the Glazer family.
New twist in the soap opera of the sale of Manchester United. A British journalist assured last weekend that the Glazer family had decided to withdraw the Mancunian club from the market, to relaunch a process in 2025 in order to approach 10 billion pounds! THE DailyMail assures, Wednesday, that the sale process, launched 10 months ago by the American owners, was still in progress. And that a denouement would be near. Finally !
British billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad al-Thani would be OK to agree to terms set by the Glazer siblings (five brothers and one sister). The two suitors would have raised the auction to 5 million pounds (5.8 million euros) during the summer, but the selling price would now be set at 7 million pounds (8.2 million euros). The English media cites sources close to the negotiations (led by an American bank, Raine Group).
As a reminder, Sheikh Jassim is commissioned by the Emir of Qatar Tamim ben Hamad Al Thani to buy Manchester United, one of the most powerful clubs in the world. Qatar already owning PSG through its investment fund (QSI, one of the subsidiaries of Qatar Investment Authority), Sheikh Jassim would thus buy Man United on his behalf. Him the director of the Qatar Islamic Bank, an institution belonged to Qatar (via QSI).
