Since his arrival in Paris in July 2021, Georginio Wijnaldum has lost his luster. To the point that the former captain of the Netherlands is now in Saudi Arabia.
Nobody really understood why Georginio Wijnaldum had not succeeded at PSG. In July 2021, the solid midfielder left Liverpool, where he notably won a Champions League and a national title that the Scousers had been waiting for three decades.
Wijnaldum arrives in Paris at the age of 30 with this status as an international-class player, reinforced by the captain’s armband of the Netherlands (89 caps – 26 goals). And yet, he never managed to become a staple of the Parisian wardrobe.
Loaned to AS Roma for a season (2022-2023), Georginio Wijnaldum will find some sensations and even the Oranje after a tibia injury which will immobilize him for almost six months, between August 2022 and February 2023.
Back from loan this summer at PSG, the Dutchman was immediately placed among the undesirables. He left the loft on Saturday with the formalization of his departure for Saudi Arabia.
Georginio Wijnaldum has signed up for three years with Al-Ettifaq, in the flavor of Liverpool. The team is coached by Steven Gerrard and Jordan Henderson has also been transferred. He won’t be alone to talk about the good times.
