Another year, a funny evening for Paris Saint-Germain, who played their Ligue 1 match against Olympique Lyonnais right in the middle of this Ballon d’Or ceremony. A solid 2-0 victory for the Parisians, which logically pleased the Ile-de-France supporters. But it must be said that what happened in London also irritated more than one person on social networks…

Indeed, if the reigning European champion was logically elected best club of the year 2026, the Parisian players finished quite far from the leading roles in the final ranking of this 2026 Ballon d’Or. The first Parisian, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, is sixth, while Ousmane Dembélé follows him, in seventh position. Fabian Ruiz is tenth, while Achraf Hakimi and Vitinha finished thirteenth and fourteenth respectively. Next come Willian Pacho (20th), Nuno Mendes (23rd) and Marquinhos (25th). For many fans, the Parisian players were not respected and finished too low in the rankings.

PSG mismanaged its campaign

Asked by The Evening Teamthe editor-in-chief of France Football Vincent Garcia mentioned the Parisian case. “Mbappé had a very good campaign in real life. He was able to explain well and put people and jurors in the heads, because it didn’t come down to much. He knew how to capitalize on what he had done in a World Cup year. The proof, it didn’t amount to much”he explained. What does this have to do with Paris Saint-Germain? Well according to him, unlike its former star, PSG mismanaged its communication.

“Others had a less good campaign. I think a little about PSG. They are double European champions, we have Kvara sixth, Ousmane seventh, Fabian Ruiz tenth. I find that PSG’s communication was perhaps not very clear in trying to promote three players, then two. For me, I would point out that it’s not my job, I don’t do communications, but they should have worked for a player. They should have ridden for the title holder, Ousmane Dembélé”confided the journalist. The message got through.
