Launched in August 2022, at just 16 years and 4 months, Warren Zaire-Emery is already a notable player in the history of PSG, being the youngest to make his professional debut with the Parisian club ahead of El Chadaille Bitshiabu and Kingsley Coman. Since then, the midfielder has been French champion four times, won two Coupe de France and, above all, won the Champions League twice. Unheard of at his age in the history of football, he is the youngest French international since 1914.
Zaire-Emery, who is still only 20 years old, lost a small symbolic record on Tuesday evening. The new RC Lens prodigy Mezian Mesloub, 16 years and 339 days old, became the youngest player to play a second Champions League match with a French club, when he came into play against Sporting (0-2 defeat at Bollaert). As a reminder, Walid Mesloub’s son is currently a Portuguese international hopeful, while he can also represent France and Algeria (his father, a former Algerian international, is already a native of France).
Zaire-Emery ahead of Mesloub
Mesloub is therefore ahead of “WZE”, who played his second C1 match at the age of 16 years and 343 days. Launched by Christophe Galtier during a show of force against Maccabi Haifa (7-2), at the Parc des Princes, by coming into play in place of Vitinha, Zaire-Emery then started in February 2023 when Bayern came, in the round of 16 first leg. Fabian Ruiz replaced him.
Ayyyoub Bouaddi was exactly 17 years old during his second Champions League match with Losc and Rayan Cherki was two days older during his second C1 outing with OL.
