PSG could part ways with their star gardener Jonathan Calderwood after the huge hiccup in the match against Rennes at the start of the season.

At PSG, not all the stars wear crampons. Since 2013, the capital club has had an outstanding gardener on its staff: Jonathan Calderwood. Voted best ground manager in the Premier League in 2009 and 2012, the Northern Irishman left Aston Villa thirteen years ago to arrive in Paris, where he fulfilled his mission wonderfully. At least until this season.

A huge hiccup at the start of the year, during the match of the 1era day of Ligue 1 against Rennes (August 23), risks indeed costing him dearly. According to The Teamthe lawn star was called to a preliminary interview which could lead to dismissal. The leaders would not have digested the problem with the pitch that occurred before the reception of the Bretons.

PSG already sanctioned

That day, the match had to be reversed and played at Roazhon Park (2-2) because the Parc des Princes pitch was impassable, officially due to the heatwave. This blunder earned Paris Saint-Germain a fine of 150,000 euros, which still took over the organization of the return match. A decision contested by Stade Rennais before the CNOSF.

If this rematch between PSG and Rennes was finally played in Brittany, the reigning double European champions would lose quite a lot financially. Enough to push Jonathan Calderwood towards the exit who is also not helped by the club’s fourth place in the Ligue 1 pitch rankings last season, behind Nice, Metz and Nantes.
