The imbroglio around Dani Carvajal has finally found a solution. Free from any contract since his departure from Real Madrid after 13 years with Los Blancos, the Spanish international (52 caps) was in discussions with Getafe to make his “return” to La Liga.
A blocked transfer?
But these had been blocked for several days. A purely financial reason was at the origin of this impasse. The salary offered by the Madrid club was in fact too low for Carvajal. Getafe offered him around 400,000 euros per year, or 25 times less than what he earned at the Merengues.
The two parties seem to have finally reached an agreement, since Getafe announced this Tuesday the arrival of the six-time Champions League winner. The 34-year-old has signed up for a season with his new club, currently 14th in La Liga.
