Zinédine Zidane, his funny choice before announcing his first list

Five days before the announcement of his first list as coach of the France team, Zinédine Zidane made an appearance in Madrid. Far from football.

As an international window approaches, a coach’s priority is to see as many matches as possible, to monitor the players who could be called up. With the Manchester derby at 5:30 p.m., Barça-Levante at 4:15 p.m., and PSG playing this evening, there is plenty to do.

Five days before the announcement of his first list, Zinédine Zidane opted for F1. Didier Deschamps’ successor came as a neighbor to attend the Spanish Grand Prix, the very first contested in Madrid.

“I’m happy, really happy, I couldn’t wait to see the circuit. It’s great for me as a Formula 1 fan.”confided “Zizou”, who lives in the Spanish capital, and who is incidentally an ambassador for the Alpine team.

Zidane took the opportunity to talk about the historic pole position won by Pierre Gasly last week in Italy.
“I was happy, I even sent a message, a pole six years after winning at Monza, I was happy for him. »

No match at the stadium for Zidane

The former Real coach was also present at the Spanish GP on Saturday, for qualifying, as shown in images shared on Saturday by Alpine. Which still raises a bit of a question regarding his schedule, one week before the first meeting of the Blues under his direction.

Let us remember, however, that if there are coaches who like to go to the stadium to watch their club internationals, this was not the habit of Didier Deschamps, who sent his assistant Guy Stéphan, or his goalkeeping coach, to the field. For Zidane, obviously, the selections will also be made in front of the TV, which potentially allows several matches to be seen.
