Real Madrid: but where has Endrick gone?

At the start of the summer, there was some enthusiasm around Endrick in the Spanish capital. Back after a successful loan to Olympique Lyonnais – 5 goals and 7 assists in 16 Ligue 1 matches – the Brazilian returned to Madrid with a certain legitimacy. And all the media agreed that he was going to be relatively important for JosĂ© Mourinho. Not to be a starter a priori, but to be the offensive joker, and that twelfth or thirteenth man on the team.

In addition, his versatility up front, who can play up front or on the right side, was presented as an asset. Author of a nice friendly goal against Fiorentina for example, the former Palmeiras player could be optimistic for the future. However, after five days of La Liga and a Champions League match, the observation is rather sad: he has not played a single minute.

Blame it on an injury, but not only that…

An absence which is due to muscular problems which prevented him from taking part in the first matches of the season. If the number 9 of Casa Blanca did not play, it is therefore due to an injury, even if since his return to the group against Inter, he has attended all the matches against the Milanese then against Rayo Vallecano from the sidelines. And even if José Mourinho explained that he was counting on him, it is clear that it will be very difficult for the Canarinha player to grab playing time.

And for good reason, the competition is tough. The different arrivals in the offensive sector, as well as the untouchable status of certain players, seriously complicate things for Endrick. For example, he is the third choice up front, behind an unstoppable Mbappé and Carlos Espi who performs well in the little playing time granted to him. On the right side, suffice to say that with Arda Güler on fire, and Yan Diomandé and Brahim Diaz, it looks very complicated. It’s no coincidence that certain rumors already suggest a departure on loan this winter…
