And for his first list, the successor of Didier Deschamps could reserve some surprises, including that of Pablo Pagis. Already pre-summoned, the Paris FC player has never been called up by the former coach.
Revealed in Lorient, where he also had loan spells at Nîmes and Laval, Pablo Pagis gradually established himself in Ligue 1. This summer, the attacking midfielder reached a new milestone by joining Paris FC for 15 million euros. A choice motivated by the ambition of the Ile-de-France club, but also by the desire to continue to progress and, why not, to get closer to the French team.
After the meeting between Paris FC and OL, the person concerned reacted to his pre-summoning. “It’s good, it’s encouraging. It encourages me to continue in this direction. I was wondering a little about the start of the season, but I feel like it’s starting to come. Physically, I feel at my best. We must continue like this. It will pay off”he timidly confided on Saturday at the microphone of League 1+.
“I’m not obsessed with it”
Its captain, Pierre Lees-Melou, was much more enthusiastic at the mention of this possible first call-up.
“It’s fantastic, it’s magnificent. We are all very happy for him. He deserves it between his last season and this start of the season. We hope to make it grow even more. It’s a good project for him, a coach for him. We are very proud to be able to help it go even higher”he says, quoted by RMC. For his part, Liam Rosenior does not hesitate to describe him as
“fabulous footballer”.
A progression which inevitably feeds Pagis’ ambitions. Recently interviewed by Paris Matchthe player did not hide his “dream” of joining the Blues. “I’m not obsessed with it and I definitely don’t want to put pressure on myself with it. But obviously we think about it”he admitted. We will now have to wait another five days to find out if Zinédine Zidane will decide to offer him this first call-up.
