D-6 before the big meeting! It is next Friday, at the premises of the French Football Federation (FFF), that Zinédine Zidane will unveil his first list as coach of the France team.
The moment is eagerly awaited, because each change of coach can reshuffle the cards, especially in a national team, and especially after a reign as long as that of Didier Deschamps. The previous coach had his habits, and even his lists were not as fixed as one might think, Zidane might want to bring in new faces, his new faces, in order to mark a certain break, and to prepare for the upcoming deadlines.
In recent days, many have been cited in the list of pre-summoned to the Blues: Ismaelo Ganiou (Lens), Jérémy Jacquet (Liverpool), Andy Diouf (Inter Milan), Estéban Lepaul (Rennes), Pablo Pagis (Paris FC), or even Enzo Le Fée (Sunderland). This would go in the direction of renewal.
In Zidane’s list, there will not be room for everyone
Be careful, however, pre-convocation does not mean selection. The pre-call is part of the administrative process, and its aim is to warn clubs that their player could be affected by an international selection. How many players are pre-summoned? About fifty.
This is therefore already a first step for the players mentioned above, and it shows that they are on Zidane’s radar. But if we add the 30-35 elements on which Didier Deschamps has relied in recent months, it is clear that there will not be room for everyone, even if the coach should opt for a fairly large group with four matches on the program. There are bound to be some disappointed people.
