As a welcome gift Rodri offered himself a first controversy in Spain. After his replacement last weekend against Valencia, the midfielder was seen on the sidelines criticizing the level of play of his opponents, largely beaten 5-0. “ Really soft, these guys are really soft… Really soft. They suck, man! They really suck. They are pitiful. Where did they finish in the standings last season? They didn’t even cross the halfway line in the second half… »

The story could have ended there except that the scene was filmed and widely commented on. Faced with the small outcry created in Spain, the world champion preferred to put out the start of the fire himself by calling José Luis Gayà, whom he knows well, the two men having been summoned at the same time to compete in the World Cup in Qatar in 2022 (Gayà ultimately had to withdraw, editor’s note), and apologize. According to SportRodri never intended to hurt his opponents, nor to be insulting towards them.
