AS Saint-Étienne continues to review its organization. Since the arrival of its new management, the Forez club has made numerous internal changes, particularly in the areas of training and recruitment. A new face thus strengthens the Saint-Etienne system.
Sacha Esteves joins ASSE after experience with Real Sociedad. The Frenchman will take charge of post-training, with the mission of supporting young players in the final stages of their progression towards the professional world. An arrival which should allow the Greens to strengthen their work around the most promising talents.
But the arrival of Esteves also brings about a change for Guillaume Leleu, as reported Green People. Having passed through Lille and Brentford, the latter was until now responsible for post-training. He will now take charge of recruitment at the training center, with a more important role within the Saint-Etienne organization chart.
Fernandez passes the baton
These changes are explained in particular by the upcoming departure of Gérard Fernandez, historic figure of ASSE. At 78 years old, the man who devoted several decades to the Greens is preparing to hand over the reins, after having occupied different roles within the club, from first team assistant to educator, before becoming one of the main people responsible for detection.
Gérard Fernandez has thus supported several generations of young players and participated in the blossoming of numerous talents from Saint-Etienne. His departure marks the end of a long history with ASSE and opens a new page for the club’s recruitment unit. To succeed him, ASSE is now banking on the duo Guillaume Leleu-Sacha Esteves, under the responsibility of Laurent Huard.
