Two years after the great campaign for Bruno Genesio’s men, dotted with exploits against Real Madrid, Atlético and Juventus, Lille wants to offer itself a great adventure in the Champions League again this year. But like two years ago, when it all started with a defeat at Sporting, Losc missed its start to the competition.
Everything was not thrown away for the Mastiffs, who led the score twice. Ethan Mbappé first placed a good ball on the head of rookie Ayase Ueda, for his second goal in two games (1-0, 12th). Then, while Marc Bartra had beaten Alexsandro to take a superb cross from Pablo Fornals (1-1, 33rd), the Brazilian defender took revenge by scoring in his turn, from a corner from Gaëtan Perrin (2-1, 36th).
Everything was going well for Davide Ancelotti’s men, who unfortunately did not take seriously the warning launched by Troy Parrott’s big opportunity before the break (40th).
Losc already in tough times
Returning from the locker room, Marc Bartra came to place again to cut off a good ball from Isco (2-2, 49th). And in the process, Nathan Ngoy was taken away a little too easily by Parrott, who gave the Andalusians the advantage (2-3, 53rd).
Already very naive, Losc shot itself a second time in the foot with the bad gesture of Ethan Mbappé, punished with a red card just after the third Sevillian goal (56th). At 10 against 11, it was too hard for Lille, despite the good entry of Olivier Giroud, close to the equalizer (83rd).
This C1 therefore gets off to a very bad start for Losc, who will have to negotiate a perilous trip to Arsenal on the next day. Clearly, this is not the ideal start…
